1. Bengal Tiger

Bengal tiger is of the height of one meter. The weight of the adult is between 130 to 200 kilograms. It has color of a rich reddish-yellow to orange ruff. Its body is covered with black stripes. The color of the tail is black. Its belly is white. The ears are black with spots. The dense forests of Terai region are the habitat of the Bengal tiger. Its lifespan is fifteen years. It is protected in Bardiya National Park and Chitwan National Park.

2. Clouded Leopard

The mid-hill is the habitat for the clouded leopard. Its habitat is dense forest of the tropical and sub-tropical zones of eastern Nepal. The adult clouded Leopard is of the height of 0.8 to 0.9 meters. Its weight is generally 16 to 20 kilogram. Its body color is of different types that vary from grey or earthy brown to pale or rich yellowish brown. Its under-parts are white or a pale tawny. Its face is marked with cheek stripes. It seems attractive. Its tail is ornamented with rings. There are marks of large spots on the limbs and under-parts. It has a long body and tail. Its limbs are short. Its upper canine teeth are quite big. It preys upon small and large mammals and birds. Its lifespan is about eight years. It is protected in Langtang National Park and Makalu-Barun National Park.

3. Red Panda

The Red Panda is found in the area at the altitude of 3,500 meters of Nepal. Its habitat is the temperate forest with bamboos. The red panda has a rounded head, large pointed ears, a stumpy muzzle and hairy legs. Its legs are back. Its face and lower lip are white. In its body there is a vertical stripe from just above the eye to the gape. The ears are dark on the outer surface. There is white on the edges and inside of the eyes. The tail is ringed with light and dark shades. It has rusty red with black tips. It has retractile claws. It is protected in Sagarmatha National Park and Lantang National Park.

4. One-Horned Rhinoceros

One-horned rhinoceros lives in swampy grasslands and tropical jungles in Terai Regions. This is of the height of 1.1 to 1.7 meters. The weight is about 2,000 to 4,000 kilograms. This is the second largest mammal of the world. Heavy shield-like folds cover its body. The shields lie before and after the shoulders. They are also in front of the thighs and on the buttocks. It continues right across. The body of this animal is blackish grey. It doesn’t have any hair. The shape of the body is like a boat. It bears a horn that is extension of the nasal bone. The horns remain throughout its life. If the horns are lost they are regenerated. The horns are of the greatest value. Its life is estimated about 40 to 50 years. It is protected in Bardiya National Park and Chitwan National Park.

5. Asiatic Rock Python

Asiatic rock phyton is of the length of seven to ten meters. The weight of adult is between 85 to 90 kilograms. It is the largest and heaviest of all the snakes found in South Asia. Its body is light brown or yellowish. It has a series of dark brown and circular spots.


The edge of the spot is black and yellow. Its life-span is nineteen years. It is protected in Chitwan national park.

The Clouded Leopard is patterned very uniquely. The photograph of the Bengal Tiger and the Red Panda are beautiful.
